Lord Hood and some of the remaining forces of humanity stay on Earth while you, some UNSC forces, and the Separatists go through the portal and discover The Ark, a Forerunner installation where one can activate all 7 Halo installations. After retrieving her, you and the human leaders join the Covenant Separatists on their ship where 343 Guilty Spark (yeah remember him?) fixes the AI chip to only find out that this is a recorded message by Cortana, informing you that the Gravemind is coming to Earth and that the slipspace portal the Covenant opened has a solution to the Flood. With their help, you make your way to the ship believing that this is Cortana. Right after, a Flood-controlled Covenant ship lands nearby, as does a group of Covenant who do not follow the prophets any longer and inform the humans that an AI construct is onboard. It turns out this is not The Ark as everyone is still alive and it opened a huge slipspace portal which the Covenant escapes through. The Covenant, however, beat you to the punch and activate it anyway. Unfortunately, Crow’s Nest is invaded by the Covenant, leading to you activating a bomb to destroy the base, and the aliens along with it.Īfter regrouping, you take part in Lord Hood’s all out attack against the Covenant to stop them from activating The Ark. The Ark will activate all the Halo rings if used.
You eventually (after a lot of combat) arrive at Crow’s Nest, a UNSC military base where Miranda Keyes and Lord Hood are planning to sabotage the Covenant’s plans of activating an artifact, called The Ark, they dug up outside New Mombasa. You are recovered by Sergeant Johnson and The Arbiter, who has joined the forces of the UNSC to take down the Covenant and the Flood. Master Chief crash lands on Earth, specifically East Africa, using a piece of the Forerunner Dreadnought he was last seen on to break his fall.
